Dr. Lacefield handles all aspects of prostate cancer from screening to advanced diagnostics to surveillance and treatment. There are no symptoms of early prostate cancer which is why screening with PSA tests are necessary for men ages 55 and older.
If you have an elevated PSA, Dr. Lacefield will typically order an MRI of the prostate followed by a targeted biopsy of specific areas. Using this approach to screen for prostate cancer increases accuracy in addition to standard biopsy.
For those men with a positive biopsy, Dr. Lacefield utilizes up to date genetic testing to help determine if surveillance or treatment is right for you.
Once Dr. Lacefield and his patients decide on a treatment course, he can then arrange a cancer nurse navigator to facilitate the entire journey.
